First distinguish injury from normal fledging

The official case explicitly describes an injured wild Crested Myna, and the finder contacted forestry rather than treating it independently. Observe first from a distance. A fully feathered fledgling that hops while adults remain nearby usually should not be removed; active bleeding, a drooping wing, inability to stand, entanglement or immediate traffic danger more clearly indicate rescue need.

Near a school or home, move children, pets and onlookers away to reduce noise and pursuit. Do not repeatedly handle the bird, spread its wings or throw it into the air to test flight.

Report four essentials

Tell local forestry, a wildlife rescue service or police the time, broad location, behaviour, visible injury and source of danger. One full-body photograph without flash may help assessment, but do not publish the location on social media.

While waiting for instructions, do not give milk, bread or rice, force water or administer medicine. Wrong food, aspiration and stress can worsen injury. Qualified staff must decide care, transport and release timing.

Temporary holding only when instructed

If a professional asks you to hold the bird, use a ventilated cardboard box of suitable size with clean, thread-free soft cloth. Keep it quiet, dim, temperature-stable and away from cats and dogs; never display it in a transparent cage.

At handover, report discovery time, any movement, possible window or vehicle collision, and whether it received food or water. Never release a recovering bird in a random park, and do not keep or train a Crested Myna because it can imitate sounds.
